About PrivScrub
PrivScrub is a free toolkit for true redaction, metadata scrubbing and PII checks. It runs in your browser so sensitive files never leave your device.
Redaction that actually removes data
PrivScrub rebuilds every output page as an image in a new PDF, with selected regions covered in its pixels. Unboxed areas retain their visible appearance, but every page loses searchable and accessible text. You can also remove supported document Info fields and XMP metadata.
A detector for fake redaction
Enter exact words or phrases to search in extractable PDF text and supported document Info values. The inspector also reports XMP presence and page text coverage. It does not detect dark boxes, run OCR or search XMP contents. No match is not a safety guarantee; review the actual file before sharing.
Who builds it
PrivScrub is part of Solmoor, a small independent family of privacy-respecting web tools built without forced sign-ups or hidden uploads.
How it stays free
The tools are free. Some pages link to clearly marked third-party products; those links never affect tool behavior or file processing.
